How to Choose Your Dream Wedding Vendor Team

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Choosing the perfect vendors for you and your special day is so important and can completely change the vibe/ ease of your wedding planning process and wedding day. Keep reading to find 5 important tips to make sure you are choosing the right people for you!

1. Don't Choose Your Vendors Based Only On Price

While it is important to consider your budget when looking for vendors, this alone should not be at the top of your list. You can find all different kinds of vendors in every price range, it may take a little more research, but there is so much talent out there to be had! You MUST first look at some of the other qualities of the vendor before choosing them based on a good deal.

2. Create a vision board for your event and stick to it.

In order to choose the best vendors for you, you have to have a clear idea of what you are looking for. We love a good Pinterest board, but make sure you get specific! Use all your senses to visualize your perfect day. This will help you get specific in what you need to find in a vendor that will fit on your team! What kinds of colors are there, what florals, what kind of foods will you eat, is there dancing, what kind of music is playing. Think about how you want to feel on your day, how involved you want to be in all the planning processes. Once you think about these things think about what you want to take away from the wedding. What do your photos look like, do you want a video to remember this by? What style is this video? As you ask yourself all of these questions you will begin to get a clear picture of the vendors you will need and the specific type of service you want them to provide.

3. Look through portfolios AND read reviews.

Make sure you are using vendors that have something to show you. You want to make sure what they provide fits on your vision board. It is really important to use a combination of both friend recommendations or high ratings and their products to create a decision that will give you the best result. While you may be inclined to listen to a glowing recommendation, that photographer may create incredible light and airy photos that don't match your dark and moody vision and venue.

4. Meet with your vendors face to face (in person or virtually).

You will be spending a lot of time working with these vendors and they will be helping you through one of the most memorable days of your life. Pick people who you get along with, maybe relate to, and you know will support you on your big day. By picking a group of vendors you can vibe with they will also be able to enjoy each others company and work well together. Weddings are a team sport and when your team gets a long everything will run smoothly.

5. Find someone you can truly trust.

Do not settle for the first vendor you find in your price range or style. Make sure to look at many vendors in your area that fit your style until you find your perfect match. When you feel like you can truly trust your vendor you will be able to give them creative freedom to truly do their best work. Share your ideas, share your vision board, but when you find the right vendor for you all their work will be perfect and you won't feel the need to give them strict instructions.

Finding the right vendor for you may take time, but it will be so worth it when you can walk into your wedding day worry free and watch your vision come to life with ease.
